I discovered Bat for Lashes from a fanfiction that I actually didn't read (I'm actually pretty sure I kust opened it up, saw it was a songfic and saw the song, and then looked up the song and disregarded the fic entirely). It was sometime in January this year(I could look but I'm too lazy atm) that I listened to it for the first time and I became obsessed with it. Honestly this album is peak "listen to it while imagining your favorite character going through it" kind of music.
Then, in a separate incident like a month and a half later, I go over to my friend's apartment for a boardgame night and I was the first person there. She was doing her work before hand and had started the first episode of Vampire Diaries to watch in the background and holy shit, "Siren Song" 6th track off the album is playing in the show. I actually deadass stopped whatever my friend was saying to tell her as much about the album as I know, which was jackshit but still, and she was all like "huh that's neat" and continued on.
Skip ahead like 1-2 weeks I'm back at her apartment cause we have tickets to Iron Lung(2026) at 10:15PM but we both have homework, so we sit oh her couch and she says "I'm putting on Vampire Diaries", mind you she has been watching this show completely without me(with the exception of the first episode that I didn't pay attention to) and starts in the middle of the third season. Every 2 minutes she's having to pause the show to explain why "We" are trying to kill Klause, what a tribrid is, and why the hell Katherine and Elaine look the same.
All that to say that this is a good album and I don't understand Vampire Diaries.
