Hitoshi's first debut was in Chapter 23: Roaring Sports Festival, or Season 2 episode 15 as a General Studies student of Class 1-C hoping to transfer into the heroics department in order to prove to himself, and to others, that he can become a hero despite the villainous perception around his quirk. After his display at the sports festival, he is taken in as Aizawa-sensei's personal student be trained in order to transfer into heroics. Hitoshi officially transfers in his second year into class 2-A, and later graduates to become the Hypnosis Hero: Nighthide.
